This has become a big issue. Boundaries have been pushed and exceed what most people would ever call acceptable. This has gone so far, there is now a call to action.
Angela Rojas and Moya Kelly did a deputation to the Port Adelaide and Enfield Council on 12th March 2024 on the Sexually Explicit Books for Children in our Public Libraries. We encourage you all to read this.

The sexual content of some publications that is aimed at minors, now available in many public libraries, is and should be offensive to any reasonable person. The stuff accessible online is another story altogether.
Shown here is the censored version of the Deputation made to the Port Adelaide and Enfield Council on 12th March 2024.
The simple fact is that by having these publications available councils become legally described as ‘distributors’ and as such become liable to penalties under the law. Which residents of Onkaparinga are ok with this?
The Deputation was originally live streamed by the council but has now been deleted.
Watch it here; Council denies its kid’s books are pornographic – but orders Mum not to show images at meeting
Any book borrowed in South Australia can be returned to any library within the state. Onkaparinga manages 6 libraries. This means we don’t know exactly, on any one day, which of these very questionable books are in our libraries.
Every responsible adult needs to protect children and council should be at the forefront of this battle.
There is an uncensored version of the deputation available which has very graphic images from these books that demonstrates, without any question, this is an extremely important issue. The council would not show the uncensored images at the deputation because although they were apparently acceptable for minors to see they were too confronting for adults!

Angela Rojas is asking for concerned people to sign her Petition to the SA Parliament to remove these books from access by minors in our libraries. If she gets 10,000 signatures it will be brought formally before the parliament for debate.
To conform to the requirements of petitions for the SA Parliament it is essential that only original signatures are provided: digital signatures are not acceptable. Pseudonyms are also not acceptable. Accordingly you will need to fill in the details of Name, Address, Signature and Date on the Petition and post the original to either;
